11/1/08 Preview and Notes
This Saturday, November 1st AAW returns to the Berwyn Eagles Club for "Massacre on 26th St.". This is always one of the most exciting shows of the year as it is the final build up for the Windy City Classic that will be held on "Black Friday" this year November 28th. All the AAW stars will be looking to secure a spot on the biggest show of the year and there are some big matches signed. Let's take a closer look at the card.
AAW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
Tyler Black
vs
Keith Walker w/ Dave Prazak
Coming off a spectacular title defense against Claudio Castagnoli last month, Tyler Black now must face the monster Keith Walker. Walker proved his physical dominance over the champion in a tag match back in September when he picked up and launched Black into the crowd taking him out of the match. Black has faced adversity before but some are saying that with Dave Prazak guiding the "Human Massacre" there may be no stopping him on his way to a second AAW title reign. Both men are at the top of their game and both have recently had successful tours in Japan. (Walker for Pro Wrestling NOAH and Black for Ring of Honor) Saturday night something must give as the two most decorated stars in AAW history clash for the coveted AAW Heavyweight Championship.
DEADLY DRAWING MATCH
Silas Young
vs
Josh Raymond
The most heated rivalry in AAW comes to a head at "Massacre" as Silas Young takes on his nemesis the sleazy Josh Raymond. This issue started back at the "Fate of Eight" tournament when Raymond turned on Silas after what had been a respectful and competitive contest. Raymond explained a new young lady in his life had convinced him he only needs to look out for himself. That young lady turned out to be the mother of Silas Young's unborn son Valerie Malone. Malone has betrayed Silas and she and Raymond have been flaunting their sordid affair ever since. The usually calm and collected Silas Young has now snapped and is out for revenge against the ones who have wronged him. Saturday night Raymond and Young will meet one on one in match where the stipulation will be pulled out of a hat that evening. No matter what the rules you can be sure this one will not be for the faint of heart.
AAW HERITAGE TITLE
Arik Cannon w/ Joey Eastman
vs
Shane Hollister
A big match up for both men as Shane Hollister gets his first shot at singles gold in AAW. Hollister tried valiantly to defend the tag titles on his own against the Northstar Express a few months back and was close to victory until Arik Cannon cost him the win. Holister quickly claimed he no longer wants the tag titles. He wants Cannon's Heritage belt. Cannon is widely regarded as one of the toughest men in AAW and he will bring his high impact offense in against the speed and quickness of Hollister. Does Hollister have what it takes to be a break out star in AAW or will Joey Eastman Worldwide keep the gold in their ranks?
AAW TAG TEAM TITLES
The Northstar Express w/ Joey Eastman
vs
Zero Gravity
Since their debuts a few months back Zero Gravity have wowed fans with their aerial offense and taken on some tough competition. AAW owner Jim Lynam has also been impressed and has granted the youngsters a tag team title match against Joey Eastman's Northstar Express. The NSE comes into this match with much more big match experience but it should be noted that Darrin Corbin is coming off a serious knee injury and may not be at 100%. Eastman has downplayed the injury stating his men will walk through Gakiya and Brubaker. Can the NSE stay atop the tag team division or will Zero Gravity pull off the upset and leave Berwyn with the belts?
Phil Atlas vs. Christian Able w/ Truth Martini
After an impressive run in 2007 that featured a win over BJ Whitmer and a match where he took Tyler Black to the limit, Phil Atlas seemed destined for big things in AAW. He then got the opportunity to train in the land of the rising sun for All Japan Pro Wrestling. Upon his return to North America last month Jim Lynam was quick to get ahold of the young Canadian and now Atlas is ready to pick up where he left off heading to the top of the AAW rankings but with competition at an all time high it will be no easy task.
CHALLENGE MATCH
Danny Daniels
vs
Krotch w/ Nikki
Danny Daniels has showed a mean streak as of late and is not happy with his current spot in AAW. It appears after the beating he gave CJ Esparza last month that he is going to take out his frustrations on all the young talent in the lockeroom and who fits that bill better than Matt "Krotch" Mayday? Daniels demanded this match and Krotch accepted showing he is no longer afraid to get in there and mix it up with the best AAW has to offer. Mayday's heart may be to big for his own good in this one.
THE PHOENIX TWINS
vs
Marek Brave/Trik Davis
The Phoenix Twins continue to roll through the competition in the tag team ranks coming off a big win last month against Chikara's Osirian Portal. Many feel Tweek and Dash are the uncrowned champions but due to Joey Eastman and his shady "restraining order" they cannot get close to the NSE. They will take on a team struggling to find a direction in Marek Brave and Trik Davis. Ever since JJ Inc disbanded earlier this year Brave and Davis cannot seem to get it together. A win over the Twins would put them right back in the thick of things and Tweek and Dash should prepare to take on two desperate and dangerous men at "Massacre".

Notes
- First off this month, AAW would like to thank all the fans who have stuck with us as we all feel the crunch of the current economy. AAW definitely has the best fans in the area and as Jim Lynam announced last weekend we will be dropping the price of general admission tickets from $12 to $10 starting at the 11/1 show.
- People are still talking about the classic AAW Heavyweight title match that went down last Saturday as Tyler Black defeated Claudio Castagnoli in what some are calling the AAW match of the year. Castagnoli was a last minute replacement for Joey Matthews and accepted the match and flew to Chicago on less than 12 hours notice. Claudio is a true professional and Jim Lynam will do everything possible to bring him back in the future.
- No rest for Tyler Black as next up for the champ is "The Human Massacre" Keith Walker on 11/1. Walker has looked unstoppable since returning from his last tour of Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH and with Dave Prazak now managing his career, Walker may be the biggest threat to Black's title to date. Walker physically dominated the champion in a tag match back in September, launching Tyler Black into the crowd and taking him out of the match. Black is determined to hold on to the title and on 11/1 at "Massacre on 26th St." fans will witness a battle between two of AAW's most decorated competitors.
- The most heated issue in AAW right now is no doubt the feud between Josh Raymond and Silas Young. This rivalry has gotten deeply personal with Silas' former girl (and mother of his unborn son) Val Malone turning on him and now dating Josh Raymond. Raymond and Malone have been adding salt to the wound and are all over each other every chance they get. This has enraged Silas and he will meet Raymond one on one at "Massacre on 26th St" in match where the stipulation has yet to be announced.
- Speaking of heated issues, one has risen between one time cohorts Jimmy Jacobs and Ryan Boz. The AAW fans have gotten behind Jacobs in recent weeks and this has sparked the ire of the monstrous Boz. These two men brawled throughout the building last weekend and Ryan Boz then cost Jacobs his match with Josh Raymond. No doubt that Jacobs will be looking to get even in the near future.
- Joey Eastman Worldwide has a big night coming up at "Massacre on 26th St." The tag titles will be up for grabs as Ryan Cruz and Mason Beck (filling in for the injured Darrin Corbin) go up against the young up and comers Zero Gravity. Nick Brubaker and Brett Gakyia have been making some waves the past few months and Jim Lynam has granted them a shot at the belts.
- Also on 11/1 at "Massacre" there will be a Heritage title match between Eastman's man Arik Cannon and Shane Hollister. This will be Hollister's first shot at singles gold in AAW and he has promised to take advantage. Many say Hollister is about to be the breakout star in AAW and it would be hard to argue against that opinion if he can capture the Heritage title in just a few short weeks.
- Eastman's issues don't end there as Jim Lynam has promised a big announcement concerning The Phoenix Twins and Joey Eastman Worldwide at "Massacre on 26th st." This feud has been going on the better part of 2008 and the AAW owner promises it will come to a conclusion one way or the other very soon.
- CJ Esparza was banged up badly at the hands of Danny Daniels last weekend. Daniels continued the beating after getting the win and issued a piledriver to the youngster on the floor. CJ has suffered a concusion and it is not known if he will compete this Saturday. Daniels has apparently snapped and is not happy with his position in AAW and is about to take it out on all the young talent in the lockeroom.
- Chandler McClure's bizarre behavior continues as he was defeated by Krotch last weekend and instead of launching into one of his trademark rants, he helped his opponent up and walked him to the lockeroom. When asked for a comment McClure said "Krotch is a good kid and a heck of a competitor. I respect him and we're gonna be good friends."
- This years Windy City Classic will make history as it will be held on "Black Friday" 11/28 at the Berwyn Eagles Club. Mark your calendars now to join us the night after Thanksgiving for the biggest AAW show of the year.
- Former AAW star Eric Priest was backstage last weekend watching the action and visiting with friends. The original "Gold Standard" is doing well and enjoying life after wrestling.
- Earlier this week AAW announced the first releases of it's "Best of series" of DVD's. The first release will be "The Best of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin" and will include the entire run of the Murder City Machine Guns in AAW. Future releases include "Best of Tyler Black- Volume 1" and "Best of AAW- Violent Matches Volume 1". Keep an eye on AAWrestling.com for more info.
